I decided to participate in a linocut print making workshop, which was held at WEA Southland Education. It was for two Sundays and what a fantastic time. Meet some new people and it was such an encouraging group. Anne-Marie Hamilton was our tutor and she was so supportive and positive.
I decided to have photography Inspired linocut prints. My favorite prints were printed on handmade paper I made while I was studying my visual art degree.
My Camera Heritage
My Camera Heritage. I did a linocut print of the lineage of my first memory of being a photographer. My grandad's bellow camera I use to sneak it and imagine what pictures were taken with the camera. I still have this camera in my collection. With my mum's box brownie I would hear the click and say "smile". When I got my first camera, it was a pink 110 film camera, I became frustrated when what I saw didn't match the image I seen once printed. It didn't stop me from taking pictures of my surroundings. I had several different style cameras throughout my life. Then in my 20s I got my first SLR camera and I fell in love with photography all over again. Photography is a way of life for me and I love sharing my craft with teaching photography and watching people look at the world in a completely different "light". Also I love photographing my clients and getting them to relax and enjoy the process.
Mitre Peak Milford Sound
This linocut was inspired from a photography field trip to Milford Sound. I chose one of my favorite images, converted it to a digital print and then created the linocut print. I printed the design onto my handmade paper I created and loved the final piece of work.
As a visual artists there is always and element of my surroundings that has inspired me. It was such a fantastic workshop.
